MLAX Falls to No. 13 Georgetown in BIG EAST Semis
The Golden Eagles end the season 7-7 overall
DENVER – The Marquette University men’s lacrosse fell 19-8 to No. 13 Georgetown on Friday afternoon in the semifinals of the 2025 BIG EAST Conference Championship at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium.
Lucas Dudemaine scored a game-high four times for the Hoyas (10-4), who were paced by eight points from Fulton Bayman (three goals and five assists).
Beau Westphal gave the Golden Eagles an early 2-1 lead midway through the opening quarter off Bair’s assist but MU trailed 3-2 after two scores from the Hoyas to end the frame. Bair halted a 5-0 run by the Hoyas on his first score with just 1:52 left in the first half.
The Hoyas scored seven goals in the third and six in the fourth to pull away for their 10th win of the season.
NOTABLE:
- O’Grady ends his storied Marquette career with program records of 145 goals and 180 total points. He entered the game fifth among active NCAA Division I goal scorers.
- MU ends its first season under head coach Jake Richard with a 7-7 overall record.
- Junior midfielder Matt Caputo entered the game sixth in the country with seven man-up goals and scored a two-man up goal in the fourth quarter for his eighth of the year.
- Marquette is 5-11 all-time against Georgetown, which has won each of the last eight meetings. MU had won four-straight contests in the series from 2016-19.
- It was the third meeting against the Hoyas in BIG EAST semifinals (other match-ups came in 2015 and 2022).
- The Golden Eagles are 4-5 all-time in the BIG EAST Championship with a pair of tournament crowns captured in 2016 and 2017.
