MKE Studio Tour This Weekend
Five New Studios and 11 New Artists Added This Year
MILWAUKEE – On Sat., Oct. 4 and Sun., Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., local artists will open their doors during the seventh annual MKE Studio Tour, hosted by Wisconsin Craft. The free, self-guided tour is an opportunity to meet more than 50 artists at 21 different studio locations that stretch from Brown Deer to Riverwest to Milwaukee, Wauwatosa, Bay View, St. Francis, South Milwaukee and Oak Creek.
“The tour is a fantastic way to get an ‘inside look’ where artists work and the tools and materials they use to make their creations,” says Jean Wells, event organizer for the MKE Studio Tour. “Since we have a full slate of artists, you could take two days to visit the all studios, engage with the artists, ask them questions and learn what they enjoy about their craft.” This year’s new studio stops include:
- The Jewelers Guild, Stop #7, St. Francis – Jewelry artist Robert Devoe
- Pruvisions, Stop #12, Wauwatosa – Acrylic paint artist Prudy Canfield
- Cloud 9 Workshop, Stop #14, Milwaukee – Mixed media and eco-art artist Kelcey Kalumbula
- Ruenworx, Stop #18, Milwaukee – Metal artist Jason Blenkinsop
- Gilfalo Art Design LLC, Stop #19, Milwaukee – Printmaking artists Dani Gill and Chris Gill
This year’s new artists who have joined the tour include:

- Ellen Gvora – Fiber/wearables artist
- Sarah Hunt-Frank – Ceramic artist
- Amanda Jones-Wiberg – Ceramic and sculpture artist
- Eric Melton White – Ceramic artist
- Julie Raasch – Jewelry artist
- Erika Scheer – Wood artist
- Paul Stolen – Photographer
- Irene Sustar – Painter
- Christine VanSickle – Mixed media artist
“Art is something that enriches our lives and adds vibrancy and energy to communities throughout Wisconsin and beyond,” adds Wells. “It’s an important ingredient of life that sparks joy and happiness in so many people.” Wisconsin Craft is a statewide organization that enhances the cultural life of Wisconsin by encouraging, developing and supporting traditional and contemporary craft and its makers. As part of its focus on supporting artists, each year Wisconsin Craft presents two signature events – Morning Glory Art Fair and MKE Studio Tour. The organization also offers an online directory so buyers can easily purchase signature items from 85 artists.
