MADISON – Today, Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Mahlon Mitchell released the following statement in response to Scott Walker‘s failed leadership on criminal justice reform:
Refusing to step foot in any prison that is costing the Wisconsin taxpayers over $1 billion each year is proof Scott Walker is unfit to lead and will be replaced in November. Walker continues to pay us lip service with hollow political stunts instead of actually governing. He has long delivered on the needs and desires of corporate donors and billionaire allies, like the Corrections Corporation of America, at the expense of Wisconsinites. Spending more on the Department of Corrections than we do the UW System is a clear and shameful indication of his values, morals and priorities. My criminal justice reform plan would save taxpayer money, reduce crime, fully fund police and emergency services, and begin healing our communities. Wisconsin is in desperate need of bold ideas and real leadership.
