Milwaukee’s nonprofit bikeshare Bublr Bikes appoints Laura Bolger as new executive director
MILWAUKEE – Feb. 1, 2024. Bublr Bikes, the nonprofit operator of the City of Milwaukee, Wauwatosa, and West Allis’s bike share system, is pleased to announce Laura Bolger as their new executive director. Bolger previously worked for the Greater Milwaukee Committee as their director of resource development where she supported initiatives such as ‘Scale Up Milwaukee,’ ‘MKE United,’ and ‘The Commons’ that helped create equitable spaces and economic opportunities for Milwaukee neighbors. In addition to being an avid lover of bicycling, Bolger’s professional experience brings a variety of unique skills to Bublr Bikes that include coalition building, strategic partnerships, and project management. Bolger brings an attentiveness to community outreach and fundraising that are essential in terms of success as Bublr Bikes’ director.
Bolger will be replacing the organization’s previous director, James Davies. After nine years with the organization and four years as executive director, Davies stepped down in Dec. 2023 to work as Assistant Corporation Counsel with Milwaukee County. The organization is grateful for Davies’ dedication to Bublr Bikes’ growth and his contribution to the organization’s success.
“I look forward to expanding and enhancing our greater Milwaukee nonprofit bikeshare through thoughtful philanthropic partnerships, collaboration with community stakeholders and engaging civic leaders,” Bolger shares. “I want to work towards creating a fun, safe, effective biking community for people of all abilities and lifestyles.”
Rese Schneider, Board President: “The Bublr Board is thrilled to have Laura Bolger join the Bublr Team as Executive Director. Laura is passionate about bicycling and Milwaukee, and she brings an important public policy focus to the position. Her experience in managing nonprofits and fundraising efforts will help continue to grow Bublr as a reliable, fun, and affordable transportation option for residents and visitors alike. We look forward to the ride ahead!”
