Ascension St. Joseph Hospital located at 5000 W. Chambers Street – recently opened a new emergency department for pregnant women in need, the first of its kind in Milwaukee. The four-bed area known as the OB Emergency Department aims to help women experiencing difficulties with their pregnancy and address maternal health disparities.

7th District Alderman Khalif J. Rainey believes this new addition will be of great value to the community. “This new department at Ascension St. Joseph can help be a step forward toward reducing racial health disparities that exist in Milwaukee,” said Alderman Rainey. “We need all the resources possible to help make sure we have healthy mothers during and after pregnancy, and combat infant mortality. I want to thank Ascension St. Joseph for making this investment.”

The OB Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and will be staffed with specialists from the Obstetrics Hospitalist Group in addition to four full-time obstetricians. More information can be found on the Ascension St. Joseph website.
