Milwaukee Welcomes the Colors and Culture of India at the Incredible India Festival – July 12, 12pm – 7pm!

Milwaukee, WI – 6/12/2025 – This summer, Milwaukee will come alive with the sights, sounds, and flavors of India as the first annual Incredible India Festival kicks off on Saturday, July 12 at the Henry Maier Festival Park. The one-day cultural celebration invites people of all backgrounds to experience the richness and diversity of the traditions of India right on the shores of Lake Michigan.

From mesmerizing folk dances and classical music to aromatic curries and colorful crafts, the Incredible India Festival offers a dynamic and immersive journey through the many states and cultures of India. Visitors will enjoy live performances, regional cuisine, artisan markets, traditional fashion, henna art, yoga sessions, and family-friendly activities throughout the day. There will also be a games arena where you can try your luck at classic Indian board games, playing against senior citizens from India. The event will conclude with a celebration of Holi and the traditional throwing of colors.

The festival is being headed by Shefali Vallecha, who has been the events organizer and coordinator of the Indian cultural and social events for the past 22 years. Shefali “The Saree Queen” is also a wedding designer and runs her own events decor business.

“Milwaukee is known for its vibrant summer festivals, and we’re proud to bring the magic of India to the lakefront,” said Shefali. “This is a unique opportunity for the community to come together and explore Indian culture in an authentic, engaging, and joyful way.” Now, her dream project – the Incredible India Festival – is coming to life at the Summerfest Grounds thanks to the overwhelming support of the Indian community along with the support of the Consulate General of India, Chicago and renowned individuals and businesses.

Joining Shefali as is Daniel Peña, who has over 25 years of experience in festival planning and event coordination. He was previously with the summer festivals Arab World Fest and Indian Summer and continues to work with many other festivals and events throughout the city.

Dan has been travelling to India for over two decades and has a great appreciation for the people and culture of the country. “I’m very excited to have been asked to join this event”, said Dan, “I love travelling in India and I think this new festival will make a great addition to the many summer events that make Milwaukee the City of Festivals.”

Festival Highlights Include:

• Folk and Classical Dance and Singing Showcases
• Indian Cuisine featuring samosas, biryani, chai, and more
• Marketplace with Indian dresses, jewelry, henna body art and handmade goods
• Cultural Workshops, including yoga, rangoli and a cricket photo op.
• Kid’s Area with crafts and kids water balloon fight and a big playground
• Holi Celebration with the throwing of colors

The Incredible India Festival runs July 12, 2025, from 12pm until 7pm at Henry Maier Festival Park, located at 200 N Harbor Dr, Milwaukee, WI. Adult admission is $10 (kids 12 and under are free), and all are welcome.
