Milwaukee Police Involved in Officer Involved Shooting

Milwaukee Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Sunday, December 15, 2019, at about 8:04 p.m., on the 4700 block of West Hampton Ave.

At about 8:02 p.m., Milwaukee Police officers observed a vehicle driving reckless in the area of 47th and Hampton Ave. The officers activated their lights and sirens and attempted to conduct a traffic stop; however, the vehicle refused to pull over and led officers on a brief vehicle pursuit.

The suspect’s vehicle subsequently crashed in the 4700 block of West Hampton Ave. After the crash, the suspect exited his vehicle with a firearm and shot at police officers. Three officers returned fire striking the suspect. The suspect’s firearm was recovered at the scene.

The 23 year old suspect sustained a serious gunshot injury and was transported to a local hospital where he was in grave condition. At approximately 11:00 p.m. the suspect succumbed to his injuries.
