MILWAUKEE – Today, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley announced the release of draft recommendations aimed at strengthening the County’s services, policies, practices, and organizational structure. These draft recommendations represent the next step toward advancing Milwaukee County’s shared vision of becoming the healthiest county in Wisconsin.

The draft recommendations are preliminary and will be further refined through robust community engagement over the coming months. This work is part of the Future State Project, a comprehensive effort to reimagine how Milwaukee County serves everyone who lives, works, and plays in our community. The draft recommendations cover several areas, including community engagement, County operations, housing, legal services, parks, public health, social services, transit, and the zoo.

The draft recommendations were developed by consultants BerryDunn and Kairo Communications. They were informed by the Current State Assessment and Gap Analysis report, which gives an overview of County programs and services while identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement. The draft recommendations are also shaped by research on racial equity programming and services as well as overall health and quality of life in other communities across the country.

“As we consider the Future State Project’s draft recommendations, Milwaukee County recognizes that our path forward must reflect the perspectives and lived experience of people across our vibrant and diverse community,” said County Executive Crowley. “I encourage residents to get involved and share their thoughts and reflections on these draft recommendations. Everyone has a unique point of view to contribute, as we chart a course together towards a healthier future for Milwaukee County.”

Residents are invited to get involved and provide feedback on the draft recommendations in four ways.
