Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley Statement on Milwaukee Public Schools
MILWAUKEE – County Executive David Crowley released the following statement regarding the current state of Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS).
“Accountability and transparency are the way forward. While we currently don’t have all the answers, it’s my hope that the MPS administration and the Milwaukee Board of School Directors work to resolve this matter as quickly as possible.
“Our students deserve every available resource to learn and excel in their education. In order to do that, we can’t afford to leave any state or federal dollar on the table. We must ensure that an adequate amount of teachers, staff, resources, and supportive services are available in Milwaukee schools and classrooms, so every child can focus on their studies and prepare for the next step in their educational journey.
“Today, community members are rightfully asking the question: What is next? Our students, including my own children, deserve better. I believe this is a moment that must be seized in order to enact real change in our education system. I’m looking forward to working with the incoming MPS leadership so we can ensure every possible tool is provided for Milwaukee County students to succeed.”

You’re letting them off way too easy County Executive Crowley. We’ve been down this road before but never ever to this extent. Please remove the incompetence before our citizens lose all faith in our public school system. I have watched the decline over the last 60 years. Thank God we have charter and choice schools to turn to while this embarrassment is resolved. Please appoint an interim MPS school board and request resignations from all.
