Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley Announces ‘Love Your Parks’ Collaboration with Purple Door Ice Cream
Limited edition 'Trail Mix' ice cream flavor now available at Purple Door Ice Cream Locations
Milwaukee – After launching limited edition ‘Love Your Parks’ beer and coffee earlier in the year, Milwaukee County Parks has now teamed up with Purple Door Ice Cream to launch a new Love Your Parks ice cream flavor.
The limited-edition MKE Trail Mix flavor, inspired by the park systems popular biking and hiking trails, is a Malted vanilla ice cream with a plentiful mix of chocolate-covered pretzels, golden raisins and peanuts hand-twirled in. The flavor is the latest product partnership in the park system’s Love Your Parks campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the extreme funding challenges for Milwaukee County Parks, as well as provide ways that individuals, businesses and organizations can support their parks.
“Purple Door is pleased to introduce the Love your Parks MKE Trail Mix flavor. We were inspired to create a flavor that helped people feel a connection to being outside and especially outside in our great county parks.” Said Lauren Schultz, co-owner of Purple Door Ice Cream. “The MKE Trail Mix flavor is our nod to hiking and enjoying this fall weather with a snack along the hiking trail. Purple Door is committed to supporting our community and environment and creating a Love Your Parks flavor was a natural choice in doing this.”
“The pandemic put a spotlight on a clear truth: funding for Milwaukee County Parks is unsustainable.” Says Guy Smith, Executive Director of Milwaukee County Parks. “The financial impacts of COVID-19 on our parks are going to stretch far into 2021, so we hope to see many more local businesses like Purple Door Ice Cream proactively working with us to ensure that our parks system is alive and well for our kids and their kids and beyond.”
