MILWAUKEE — The campaign for Katie Kegel for Judge in Milwaukee County Circuit Court, Branch 3, today announced she has received the endorsement of Milwaukee Common Council President Cavalier “Chevy” Johnson.

“I am thrilled to support Katie Kegel for judge because we need widespread change that will build trust in our justice system,” said President Johnson. “Katie Kegel will spearhead that change. She sees the inherent worth and dignity in all of the people she serves, and I am confident she will work hard every single day to get it right.”

“It’s an honor to have President Johnson’s support, and I appreciate our shared commitment to significant reform in the criminal justice system,” said Kegel, who currently serves an assistant state public defender. “Together, we can make our justice system more people-centered and humane, and ensure public safety at the same time.”

Kegel also announced nine judges endorsing her campaign last week. See her full list of endorsers here.

The election is April 6, 2021.
