Milwaukee Common Council Members Condemn ICE-Related Shooting in Minneapolis

We express our deep concern following the ICE-related shooting in Minneapolis, which occurred within one mile of where George Floyd was murdered in 2020. This proximity underscores the ongoing trauma and fear experienced by communities of color and immigrant families when law enforcement encounters turn unnecessarily violent.

Incidents like this erode public trust and reinforce the need for accountability, transparency, and humane approaches to immigration enforcement. No community should fear that federal enforcement actions will escalate into deadly encounters.

We stand in solidarity with the family of the victim, the Minneapolis community, and support the calls for a full and transparent investigation into this incident. We remain committed to policies that prioritize public safety, dignity, and justice for all residents.
