CEDARBURG, WI: The Cedarburg Cultural Center is proud to announce it will be hosting Milwaukee artist Dena Nord for the month of May as its Artist in Residence.

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2009, Nord has been working as a graphic and web designer. She is well-versed in print design and has some web, animation and marketing experience. While attending school for design, Dena took numerous painting and art history courses. She uses painting as a way to stay fresh as a designer.  Currently, the artist is pursuing both fine art and design careers. She loves the challenge and can’t get enough of either. During the day, she works for the Milwaukee Art Museum on their in-house design team, and teaches at Splash Studio: A Painting Bar in Milwaukee’s Third Ward on the nights and weekends.  Nord spends her free-time developing her painting style, playing with app development and spending time with friends.

In addition, the artist will be teaching a special workshop for adults, entitled Painting to Music: Cocktails & Canvas on Saturday, May 30 from 1- 4 pm. Let the music inspire and lead your creativity in this relaxing and fun workshop, and see what emerges when you “let your ears do the walkin’!” All skill levels are welcome, but participants must be age 21 & older, as the workshop includes one signature cocktail per student. Cost of the workshop is $39 for CCC Members and $48 for Non-Members, with supplies included.

Details about the artist and her workshop and how to register may be found on the Center’s website at: http://cedarburgculturalcenter.org/artistinresidence.html or by calling 262-375-3676.
