Michael Hupy Boosts Rewards to $100,000 as Milwaukee Records 100th Homicide

Local attorney shifts $25,000 reward from solved case, pledges larger fund to fight violence

MILWAUKEE — As Milwaukee reached its grim milestone of 100 homicides in 2025, Attorney Michael Hupy announced he is dramatically increasing reward money to encourage tips that could help solve violent crimes.

Hupy revealed Tuesday that the $25,000 reward he originally pledged in the shooting death of nursing student Bre’nee Veasley will be transferred to a different case. That case saw multiple arrests and one suspect charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide.  The reward was initially set at $10,000, later raised to $25,000, and ultimately transferred after it was discovered that the Milwaukee Police Department had not informed Crime Stoppers the case was resolved.

Now, Hupy is offering a total of $100,000 in rewards through the end of the year, sending a strong message to criminals and the community alike.

The move came just days before Milwaukee’s Police Chief pleaded publicly for assistance in curbing the city’s rising violence.

“We cannot sit idly by as lives are senselessly taken,” said Hupy. “Every citizen deserves to feel safe, and every victim deserves justice. By offering these rewards, I hope more people will come forward with the information needed to hold criminals accountable.”

Hupy, who also serves as President of Milwaukee Crime Stoppers, has long been a champion for public safety. Under his leadership, Crime Stoppers has played a critical role in generating anonymous tips that have solved countless cases nationwide, resulting in the recovery of fugitives and the delivery of justice.
