MICAH (Milwaukee Inner city Congregations Allied for Hope) together with its partner organizations will hold Health Summit 2024, at Hephatha Lutheran Church, this Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. The Summit is part of ongoing efforts to restore health services to the Metcalfe Park Area, which lost vital pediatric services when Children’s Hospital closed its Next Door Pediatric Clinic last December. The Summit sponsors include Metcalfe Park Community Bridges, Citizen Action, NAACP, Wisconsin Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals, Poor People’s Campaign, Wisdom, and COLE (Coalition on Lead Emergency). The Summit speakers will include impacted community members and leaders as well as public officials and organizations which are committed to restoring and improving health services in Metcalfe Park and other communities throughout Wisconsin. One special speaker will be 12 year old Aiden Branch, the super lead hero. Next Door Pediatrics changed his life by lowering his lead from 50 micrograms per deciliter to 6.5 micrograms per deciliter.

There will be health services offered following the Summit, including lead testing, blood pressure screening, information about Doulas, and a variety of other health vendors.. For more information, please contact Diannia Merriett at diannia@micahmke.org
