A memorial neighborhood walk and stepping stone dedication will be held on Saturday, August 29 to honor the memory of Alderman Joe Dudzik, who died in a motorcycle crash on May 21.

Common Council President Michael J. Murphy, Mayor Tom Barrett, newly-elected 11th District Alderman Mark Borkowski, and Alderman Jim Bohl are expected to take part in the event (which will include remarks and a brief program), set to start at 9:30 a.m. on August 29 at Euclid Park (at the playground – please enter the park from S. 88th St. and W. Burdick Ave.). The neighborhood walk will take approximately 20 minutes and will conclude in the park.

There will be a ceremonial placement of a memorial stepping stone engraved with a memorial message about Alderman Dudzik. Members of the Dudzik family, including the late alderman’s wife, Lynn, are also expected to be in attendance.

“Alderman Dudzik was proud of Euclid Park and his entire district, and he enjoyed spending time outdoors, talking with neighbors and helping with all kinds of projects,” President Murphy said. “I encourage neighbors and anyone who was touched by Joe to come out Saturday and join us for the walk and the dedication ceremony.”

Alderman Dudzik founded the Euclid Park Neighborhood Association, and EPNA past president Scott Krueger will serve as the walk captain.

The event will take place rain or shine.
