MCTS Reminds Riders: The Last Day to Use the Old Fare System is This Saturday, September 30
MILWAUKEE (September 27, 2023) — Since its launch this spring, Milwaukee County Transit System’s (MCTS) new fare collection system called WisGo has been popular with riders. MCTS estimates 87 percent of riders have made the transition to the new fare system in the past six months, choosing the Umo app nearly three times more often than the WisGo card. But MCTS reminds riders that the window to make the switch from the M-Card is nearing. The last day to use M-Cards is September 30, 2023.
WisGo by the Numbers
Exploring Milwaukee County by bus is easier and more accessible with WisGo features such as fare capping, instant account reloads and free transfers for up to 90-minutes:
- 142,160 Umo mobile apps downloaded by both MCTS and Waukesha Metro riders
- 54,118 WisGo cards issued to date
- As many as 17,000 riders a day use the Umo app to plan their trip, track their bus or pay their fare
- 62 percent of riders use an iPhone; 38 percent use an Android operating system
- More than 40 other languages are supported by the Umo app
New WisGo cards are available to buy at dozens of locations throughout Milwaukee County, including Pick ‘N Save, Metro Market, Community Financial and El Rey (see the full list at RideMCTS.com/WisGoLocations).
