Mayor Tom Barrett released the following statement regarding American Family Insurance’s announcement that it has selected the Mandel building as its new Milwaukee office:

“We have had very positive discussions with American Family leading up to today’s announcement. The company is committed to Milwaukee, and Milwaukee is very pleased with its growing presence here. American Family’s interest in the Haymarket neighborhood shows there is a growing footprint for the investment we’ve seen in the heart of Milwaukee.
“Under Jack’s leadership, American Family Insurance has entered Milwaukee in a significant way, and it is a very meaningful partner to the City. They have made the decision to focus on Southeastern Wisconsin in addition to their traditional markets, and I think that’s a very positive step. The fact that there are going to be many more jobs here is something that’s very important to us.
