Marquette University announces two fellowships to support emerging or early-career filmmakers
MILWAUKEE — Marquette University has announced two fellowships for 2021, offering emerging or early-career filmmakers the resources to complete a project intended to provide a significant impact on their career trajectory. The two fellowships are a Social Justice Fellowship and a New Voices Fellowship.
Each fellowship is a one-year, project-based program during which fellows will receive access to equipment and facilities at Marquette’s Diederich College of Communication, shared office space at NŌ STUDIOS with high-end editing capabilities, student interns to help on productions, advice and mentorship from Marquette faculty, and a small stipend. In exchange, fellows will speak in relevant classes once each semester and mentor student interns.
Applications are open until Feb. 15, with an expected start date in early March. Filmmakers are able to apply for one fellowship or both. Successful applicants will apply with projects that can reasonably be completed in the 2021 calendar year. Projects may be short films, or proof of concept pieces for feature films that will be used for further grant applications and project development.
