Marisabel Cabrera Announces Endorsement of AFSCME
Wisconsin PEOPLE Conference of AFSCME Council 32 committed to a new era of representation
MILWAUKEE – Marisabel Cabrera, Democratic candidate for the 9th Assembly district, today issued the following statement regarding AFSCME Council 32 endorsing her candidacy:
“I am truly honored to receive the endorsement and support of AFSCME, the nation’s largest public services employees union. This endorsement sends a strong signal that we are ready to see real results for the people of the 9th district and have a fresh voice working in the state Assembly.
“As state representative, I will focus my efforts on protecting pensions, raising the minimum wage, ensuring workplace safety, protecting workers’ rights, increasing access to health care, and restoring the rights of hardworking people to have a seat at the table and collectively bargain.
“Working families across Wisconsin have felt the impacts of the regressive public policies meant to diminish the collective voice of employees, lower wages, and roll back our state’s proud history and tradition of the labor movement. I look forward to working with AFSCME to bring about meaningful change meant to generate the higher quality of life that we all deserve.”
Marisabel Cabrera is a private-practice immigration attorney, a member of Milwaukee’s Fire and Police Commission, chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin‘s Latino Caucus, and is a candidate for Wisconsin’s 9th Assembly district in the Democratic primary election to be held August 9, 2016.
