Lucas Lawas Earns Spot on BIG EAST Honor Roll

NEW YORK— Marquette University men’s lacrosse men’s lacrosse junior goalie Lucas Lawas is on the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll, it was announced on Monday afternoon.

Lawas posted a career-best 17 saves in the double overtime loss to then-No. 14 Georgetown on Saturday with a .630 save percentage. Marquette’s defense held the Golden Eagles in contention late in the game by allowing just one score in the final 18:54 of regulation. Lawas made a save in each extra period and four in the fourth quarter.

The native of Horseheads, New York has 62 saves over the last five games with a .543 save percentage. In two career contests against ranked Georgetown squads, Lawas has made a combined 32 saves in a pair of overtime losses.

The recognition is the second weekly accolade of the season for Lawas, who also earned the honor on March 24 for MU’s 9-8 win over Air Force.

The Golden Eagles hit the road next to take on Providence on Saturday, April 12. Face-off is slated for 10 a.m. Central time at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium.
