Local Artists Encouraged to Submit Pieces for 2026 Bronzeville Artwalk
Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs is inviting professional and amateur artists of all ages and experience levels to submit their work for the 2026 Bronzeville Artwalk, sponsored by the Historic King Drive Business Improvement District. The event gives local artists a chance to highlight their creative interpretations of the theme “Together We Dream.” Selected artists will have the opportunity to exhibit work throughout Historic King Drive businesses and community spaces during Bronzeville Week (August 1 – 8). New this year, some installations may remain on display beyond the official event dates, creating additional visibility and engagement opportunities.
Each artist can submit up to 3 pieces for consideration. There is no cost to submit and participate in the event. Acceptable artistic mediums include painting, photography, mixed media, digital, sculpture, installation, performance, and more. Submissions are due by Sunday, July 26, and additional information and submission instructions can be found here. Student participants are eligible for art supply support and scholarships. Winners will be announced at the capstone gallery event on August 8.
“The Bronzeville Week Artwalk is always a fantastic display of the talent of local artists that live right in our community,” said Alderwoman Coggs. “Submissions are now being accepted, and I would encourage all youth, adult, amateur and professional artists to submit their nominations for this year’s event. I believe the theme ‘Together We Dream’ offers an opportunity to create some moving pieces of art in all forms and interpretations.”
