Youth were selected as winners of Alderperson for a Day Essay Contest
As part of the Common Council meeting on Tuesday, December 12, 18 3rd graders from Golda Meir will participate in the Council meeting as the selected winners of the Alderperson for a Day essay content. Created by Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs, and supported by the entire Common Council, Alderperson for a Day challenged 3rd graders learning about government to consider issues they see in their community, and write a short essay about what they would do to improve their community if they were an Alderperson for a Day.
In addition to joining the Common Council meeting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, December 12, the contest winners will also participate in a talkback with Council members to discuss ways in which they would like to see the community improved. The group discussion will occur after the conclusion of the Common Council meeting.
