Lobbyist Brittany Kinser Skips Public Education Forum—Refuses to Answer for Her Record of Undermining Public Schools
MADISON – On March 19, the Wisconsin Public Education Network (WPEN) will hold a public forum on the future of education in Wisconsin—but Lobbyist Brittany Kinser has declined to attend.
For years, Kinser has worked to drain public school funding and funnel it into unaccountable private schools. Now, she’s refusing to answer for that record before the very families, educators, and students whose schools she has undermined.
Jill Underly, however, will take part in the WPEN forum, answering questions from public school families, teachers, and advocates in a discussion on how to strengthen Wisconsin’s education system.
Kinser, who’s never held a Wisconsin teacher’s license, doesn’t want to be held accountable for her work lobbying to divert taxpayer dollars from neighborhood schools to private institutions that don’t have to meet the same transparency or accountability standards. She doesn’t want to explain why she’s spent years pushing policies that weaken public education while benefiting special interests. Instead of answering the tough questions, she’s choosing to hide.
WPEN has long been one of Wisconsin’s strongest voices for students, teachers, and fully-funded public schools. If Kinser, the lobbyist, wants to lead Wisconsin’s education system, she should have no problem standing before the very people she claims to want to represent.
Wisconsin families deserve a leader who will stand up for public schools, not one who runs from accountability.
