Lobbyist Brittany Kinser Plays the Victim Instead of Answering for Her Record
MADISON – After weeks of refusing to answer basic questions about her positions, lobbyist Brittany Kinser is now playing the victim, complaining about “bullying” instead of addressing the real issues facing Wisconsin schools.
Instead of answering for:
- Her shocking claim that dismantling the U.S. Department of Education “is fine,”
- Her refusal to condemn the Trump administration’s dramatic cuts to the U.S. Department of Education,
- Her continued support for tying Wisconsin standards to NAEP, even as the entire staff administering NAEP has been eliminated—leaving just one person to oversee the program.
- Her silence on Trump’s direct cuts to Wisconsin schools that are already occurring and the potential elimination of federal funding for special education, teacher training, and school meal programs,
- Her campaign being funded by the same right-wing mega donors who are cheering on the destruction of the Department of Education,
…Brittany Kinser is crying foul because she doesn’t want to be held accountable for the extreme positions she’s taken or offend the donors fueling her campaign and risk shutting off the money.
Jorna Taylor, campaign manager for Underly for Wisconsin, responded:
“Lobbyist Brittany Kinser is trying to distract from the fact that she has no answers. If she cannot handle basic questions about the positions she holds during the campaign, how does she expect to do this job? Wisconsin’s students, teachers, and families deserve a leader who will stand up and fight for them, not someone who hides when the questions get tough.”
“Our public schools are facing unprecedented attacks—federal funding is disappearing, Trump’s administration is working to shut down key education programs, and the very foundation of public education is under threat. Lobbyist Brittany Kinser is standing with the same people making this happen. Public education across the country is being destroyed, and instead of addressing the real crisis, Brittany is complaining that we’re being ‘mean’ to her. She clearly doesn’t understand what’s at stake right now.”
This is not a debate about tone—it’s a debate about the future of Wisconsin’s schools. And lobbyist Brittany Kinser has repeatedly refused to answer where she stands.
Wisconsin schools are facing an unprecedented crisis, and Jill Underly is fighting to stabilize funding, protect critical programs, and make sure our students get the education they deserve. That’s the leadership Wisconsin needs right now.
