Legislative Leaders Call an Extraordinary Session on Special Elections

Leaders Seek to Ensure Compliance with Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act

By - Mar 23rd, 2018 03:32 pm

Madison…Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) and Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) released the following statement after the leaders called for an extraordinary session to take up legislation regarding special elections in the state of Wisconsin.

“After consulting with DOJ and others, we have decided it’s best to move forward on an extraordinary session in order to clean up the statute on special elections and ensure that it aligns with the Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act.

“It’s clear that little thought was given to the impact of the special elections ruling. In essence, there will be two elections occurring simultaneously for the two offices. It will undoubtedly lead to voter confusion and electoral chaos. Also, holding the special elections after the conclusion of the regular session is a waste of taxpayer dollars and local government resources.”

Wisconsin Republicans actions are bordering on criminal now! These monsters must be kicked out of office asap or we may be forced to arrest them all. People have the right to vote!

    Dump All Republicans!

  2. Jake formerly of the LP says:

Make no mistake, if Scott Walker had simply FOLLOWED THE LAW, there would be no chance for “confusion and electoral chaos,” and we would be having an election for these seats in 11 days.

How else can I describe this abuse of power? Fascism? Banana Republicanism? Either way all these GOPs must be FIRED ASAP.

Start with electing Dallet to the Supreme Court a week from Tuesday, as she’ll make these authoritarian slimeballs be as accountable to the law as the rest of us.

  3. Tom says:

If the law says Walker and Republicans must hold an election, well, they will just change the law! Walker and republicans are hideous! They hate Democracy!

-Too much work for local clerks.
-Since when is this the justification for not holding an election required by law ?

Brad Schimel suing ObamaCare is a waste of taxpayer dollars.

  5. Tom says:

Eric J. Yes agreed, and calling for all these republican scoundrels to return for a special session to further trample on democracy is also the true waste of tax dollars. These republican crooks have no decency and know no shame. They are trying to create a dictatorship. They MUST BE VOTED OUT OF OFFICE IN NOVEMBER!

  6. Jeff Weiner says:

    Chicken shit MFers.

  7. Jake formerly of the LP says:

Eric J- And Brad Schimel using tax dollars to try to justify this garbage of canceling elections is another example of waste like that. And calling the legislature back in session will definitely cost us some serious money.

  8. WashCoRepub says:

Glad SOMEONE is looking out for the taxpayer and voters here! Makes much more sense to have these elections aligned, as Vos and Fitzgerald say. Good call, guys.

  9. PMD says:

Yeah makes much more sense for people nor to have representation for more than a year. A Walker appointed judge disagrees with you. If a Democrat were doing this you would lose your mind. Looking out for taxpayers. Right.

  10. Jake formerly of the LP says:

If Walker and Vos and Fitz were looking out for taxpayers, the elections would have been called immediately and held 10 days from now at the same time as the Supreme Court race.

All of the extra taxpayer dollars, from DOJ attorneys defending Walker’s crap, to the added dates for elections, to the added per diems for this special session to stop the elections, ARE DUE TO THESE FASCIST REPUBLICANS. And it’s not debatable.

  11. Terry says:

    Word up Jake!
These fascist Nazi Republicans in Wisconsin must go in November!
