Learn About Sturgeon And Walleye Management In The Winnebago System On Jan. 22
The second meeting of a nine-part series focused on fisheries management in northeast Wisconsin will take place on Jan. 22.
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) invites the public to join DNR staff on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Fox Valley Technical College in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, for the next meeting in a nine-part series focused on fisheries management in northeast Wisconsin.
As part of a Spotlight Series that highlights various fisheries in Green Bay, the Winnebago System and inland waters in the northeast, this meeting will focus on the history and status of lake sturgeon and walleye in the Winnebago System.
During this meeting, DNR staff members will discuss the history and management of lake sturgeon in the Winnebago System as well as the present management of lake sturgeon and the spearing season. Staff members will also cover how walleye are managed in the system, including a summary of annual survey efforts, regulations and research projects aimed at increasing our knowledge of walleye in the system.
The meeting will be held in person and virtually via Microsoft Teams from 6 to 8 p.m.
