MILWAUKEE, WI – The League of Women Voters of Milwaukee County launched its VOTE411.org voter guide for the Spring Election on March 8.

This one-stop shop for statewide election information has tools– in both English and Spanish– to help voters navigate the voting process. These include voter registration tools, polling place information, candidate contact information and views on issues, and links to candidate forums.

The League of Women Voters of Milwaukee County invited over 300 candidates, who are seeking 180 local offices up for election on April 2, to participate in their April VOTE411.org voter guide. These offices include Milwaukee County executive, Milwaukee and Waukesha County circuit court judges and supervisors, municipal mayors, alderpersons, village presidents and trustees, town supervisors, judges, and school board members.

In addition to information about candidates for office in Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties, the VOTE411.org voter guide also features information about the state race for Appellate Court Judge District 1. There are also two statewide referenda on proposed state constitutional amendments concerning election funding and administration, as well as referenda up for voter approval in five area school districts: Greendale, Milwaukee, South Milwaukee, Hamilton, and Pewaukee.

“Decisions made at the local level can directly impact ourselves and our communities,” Nancy Maloney, president of the League of Women voters of Milwaukee County stressed. “With our nonpartisan VOTE411.org voter guide, voters can learn more about the responsibilities of these offices and each candidate’s values and be well-prepared to make an informed decision on election day.”

The League of Women Voters encourages voters to visit VOTE411.org to make a voting plan so they are prepared to vote confidently on April 2 whether they choose to vote absentee prior to the election or in person on election day. Voters may request an absentee ballot at https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/VoteAbsentee.

In addition to VOTE411, the League encourages active participation in government by conducting voter registration drives and candidate forums, get-out-the-vote social media messaging, and educational public forums on critical public policy issues.
