NEW YORK Three Marquette University men’s lacrosse men’s lacrosse players earn BIG EAST Conference weekly honors for their roles in Friday’s win over Denver, the league announced Monday afternoon.

Junior goalie Lucas Lawas earned BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week and redshirt sophomore Adam Slager landed BIG EAST Specialist of the Week. Senior Nolan Rappis tied a career high with five goals to earn a spot on the weekly honor roll.

Lawas made 12 saves and allowed 10 goals as Marquette secured a berth in the BIG EAST Championship semifinals with a 18-11 win over Denver on Friday at Valley Fields. The goalie made nine saves in the second half, including five in the fourth quarter against the Pioneers. The native of Horseheads, New York averaged 13.4 saves per game in BIG EAST action.

Slager won 14-of-22 faceoffs and picked up 10 ground balls against the Pios. He added his first assist of the year at the 9:17 mark of the opening quarter on the first goal of the day for Rappis. The Stoughton, Wisconsin native notched a .558 faceoff win percentage over 13 games during the regular season.

Rappis earned his fourth BIG EAST Honor Roll recognition following a career-best five goals. He also added an assist and caused a turnover as the Golden Eagles scored more goals against the Pioneers than any team this season. The native of Delafield, Wisconsin ends the regular season as MU’s leader in goals (31) and points (46).

The Golden Eagles are back in postseason action on Thursday, May 1, against No. 13 Georgetown in the BIG EAST semifinals. Faceoff is slotted for 5:07 p.m. Central time and the game is broadcast live on CBS Sports Network.
