Lakefront Brewery’s Beer Hall Exclusive Brewers’ Reserve Series is Seeing Double with its Release of Two Barrel-Aged Barleywine Cans
Very limited runs of two different barrel-aged barleywines will release on the same day, Friday, December 19th, only available at the brewery, while supplies last.
MILWAUKEE (DECEMBER 16, 2025) – These two Kitchen Sink Barleywines mark the eleventh and twelfth Brewers’ Reserve releases: an ongoing series of beers highlighting the talents and creativity of Lakefront’s production team at the local hot spot.
While not an actual wine, barleywines were first produced in 18th century England as a potent ale to rival fine wines, sharing in their strength, complexity, and depth. Lakefront’s Kitchen Sink Barleywine refers to the seven different varieties of malts, none of which were named kitchen sink. A copious grain bill lends itself to a rich, malty, and layered product that was then aged in rum, Bourbon, and rye whiskey barrels before landing in one of two 12oz. cans. One can filled from the rum barrels and the other can filled with a mixture from both Bourbon and rye whiskey barrels. The rum version landed at 10.68% ABV and the Bourbon version at 12.6% ABV. Expect strong notes of caramel, toffee, and dark fruits with varied flavor notes from the different barrel stays.
“This is a fun one for us,” says Luther Paul, Lakefront’s Head Brewer, “with the same base liquid, you can do a great side by side and really take in the differences between the barrels used.”
Available exclusively at the brewery in limited supply, this double release of Brewers’ Reserve Kitchen Sink Barleywine will occur this Friday, December 19th. Cans will become available on their online ordering menu starting at 9am, when you can schedule a pickup time of your choice over the weekend. The beer will also be available for purchase at their main bar when they open at 11am. Single cans to-go will run you $4 plus tax. A mix and match 6-pack will cost $20 plus tax. A great shareable delight for the holidays and the perfect gift for the beer lover in your life. Known for their age-ability, these barleywines are good to drink now, or hold onto for later.
