Milwaukee, WI – Ladies Rock Milwaukee (LRM)—a three-day music day camp for women, transgender folks, and gender nonconforming folks of any identity, age 18 and older—is kicking off its sixth year.

The 2020 LRM camp will take place June 19–21 at UWM-Helene Zelazo Center and Miramar Theatre in Milwaukee, WI, with a kick-off meeting at Hawthorne Coffee Roasters on the evening of June 18 and a showcase at Miramar Theatre at 7 p.m. on June 21. This year, LRM is excited to partner with Milwaukee-based band Reyna for its camp theme “Spill Your Colors,” which will be carried out through workshops and panels. Camper registration is open through May 15, with a discounted “earlybird” tuition rate available through March 15. Financial assistance and payment plans are available to allow everyone the opportunity to attend camp.

LRM is an intensive music camp for individuals of all skill levels. During camp, participants receive small-group instruction on select rock instruments, attend workshops, and practice with the bands they form, with the goal of performing an original song at a capstone showcase.

LRM is committed to fostering independent thinking, building self-esteem, and bridging cultural and social divides in a supportive community of peers and mentors. LRM is dedicated to providing a safe space to explore music through creative collaboration, self-expression, and technical development.

The success of LRM is made possible by its volunteers and sponsors. LRM is actively seeking volunteers for a variety of positions at camp and year-round; music experience is not required for many of the positions. LRM also is seeking sponsors to help support its financial assistance program. Please visit the LRM website for details.

LRM began in 2014 and is the older-sister camp to Girls Rock Milwaukee.
