Labor Unions Rally Around Jill Underly for State Superintendent

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Pecatonica Area School District Superintendent and candidate for Wisconsin State Superintendent Jill Underly announced today she has received the endorsement of the American Federation of Teachers Wisconsin, the Wisconsin State AFL-CIO, United Auto Workers of Wisconsin, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Dr. Underly is also the recommended candidate of the Wisconsin Education Association Council.

“Our membership is committed to advancing high-quality public education in Wisconsin, and Dr. Jill Underly is the candidate who will stand up for kids in our schools,” said AFT Wisconsin President Kim Kohlhaas. “With a breadth of experience that spans urban to rural and pre-K to post-grad, Jill Underly not only knows where our system is failing, but understands firsthand we need bold, progressive action to move Wisconsin education forward.”

“We are endorsing Jill because she has been pro-union, pro-child, pro-family, and pro-public schools from day one,” said Wisconsin AFL-CIO President Stephanie Bloomingdale. “We need a leader who will work to provide a high-quality public education to every child, every day, no matter their zip code. Dr. Jill Underly won’t be satisfied with the status quo and working families are ready to stand up for her.”
