Kundert becomes chair, three new directors join Greater Milwaukee Foundation board

Milwaukee, Wis., July 6, 2018 – David J. Kundert has been elected Chair of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation Board of Directors, which also welcomed three new members this month.

Kundert, whose career in the banking industry spanned more than three decades, is retired as chairman of JPMorgan Fleming Asset Management. He joined the Foundation’s Board in 2009. He has served as chair of the Foundation’s Investment Committee and as a member of the Administration, Audit & HR Committee; Community Investment Committee; Governance & Nominations Committee; Racial Equity & Inclusion Committee; and Impact Investing Task Force.

His nonprofit board service has included such organizations as Milwaukee Repertory Theater and College Possible.

Joining the board for first terms are Susan Ela; Thomas W. Florsheim, Jr.; and Darryl D. Morin.

Ela is a registered nurse whose 40 years in health care and community leadership has included top roles with Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and Aurora Health Care. She retired as executive vice president and chief operating officer for Aurora and most recently helped found a Milwaukee health care technology start-up in addition to a family business, Ela Cider Company. She is immediate past chair of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, and her volunteer leadership includes past chair of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Milwaukee and campaign co-chair for United Way.

Florsheim is chairman and CEO of Weyco Group, Inc., a publicly traded company that designs and markets footwear under such brands as Florsheim, Nunn Bush, Stacy Adams, Bogs and Rafters. He currently serves as a board member for Strattech Security Corp., as well as Milwaukee College Prep and the University School Endowment Board. Additionally, he is a co-chair of the United Way’s Tocqueville Society.

Morin is president and CEO of Advanced Wireless, Inc., which provides unified enterprise mobility solutions to corporations, schools and health care providers. He most recently served as National VP-Midwest Region for the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC). In addition, he is board vice chairman for the Hmong American Peace Academy, board secretary for Employ Milwaukee, and has co-founded such groups as Latino-Jewish Alliance, Community Coalition for Quality Policing and the Justice for Immigrants Committee of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

Extending her term is board member Wendy Reed Bosworth, retired partner with Foley & Lardner, while Hon. Janine P. Geske, distinguished professor of law at Marquette University (retired), is completing 12 years of service to the Foundation’s Board.
