Join the Women of the Milwaukee County Board in Wearing Denim on April 24
MILWAUKEE – The women of the Milwaukee County Board invite the community to participate in Denim Day this Wednesday, April 24th. This April marks the 25th anniversary participants around the world have donned denim in recognition of sexual assault victims.
Shortly after the Milwaukee County Board was sworn in April 15th, the newly elected women Supervisors added denim to their outfits and came together for a photo, demonstrating solidarity in challenging persistent misconceptions that surround sexual violence.
“We ask that everyone in Milwaukee County join this worthy social movement by wearing denim on April 24th, donating to a local sexual violence support charity, or both. Take a photo and share it on your social platforms of choice,” urges Supervisor Sky Z. Capriolo. “There is never an excuse, nor is there ever an invitation to rape. Let’s stand united in Milwaukee County to raise awareness and support all of those affected by this type of violence.”
Denim Day’s mission is to end victim blaming and promote awareness of sexual violence within our communities. As DenimDay.org states, “make a social statement with your fashion statement.”
