It’s a Home Run for Milwaukee Baseball Fans

MILWAUKEE (August 14, 2025) – Milwaukee’s hometown baseball team secured its 12th straight win, which means George Webb Restaurants is set to once again honor its famous “12 in a Row” baseball prediction with free hamburgers for the hometown fans.

The free burger giveaway will be held on Wednesday, August 20, from 2-6 p.m. at all 23 George Webb locations throughout Wisconsin. Hungry fans are welcome to stop by any location for a free, juicy burger and camaraderie with fellow baseball fans.

Vouchers will be available starting this Friday (8/15) for pick up at restaurant locations for those who want to savor the moment and enjoy a delicious George Webb hamburger at a later date. A limited menu will also be available on the giveaway day with great deals on extra burgers, fries and drinks.

“Our founder made the bold prediction of 12 games in a row back in the 1940s, and it has only been realized three times in our company history,” said Ryan Stamm, vice president of George Webb Restaurants. “We couldn’t be happier for Milwaukee – we look forward to grilling up some tasty victory burgers for the best fans in baseball.”

The Prediction
The George Webb “12 in a Row” predication unofficially began in the 1940s. It was then formalized in 1965 when the owner painted the prediction on restaurant walls and advertised in local papers. As legend has it, George Webb boldly stated that once the hometown team won 12 games in a row, free burgers would be served.

Sure enough, in 1987, Milwaukee surpassed that number with a 13-game winning streak, and as a result, George Webb Restaurants handed out almost 170,000 free hamburgers. To meet the demand, they ordered more than 25,000 pounds of ground beef and used 2,868 pounds of onions in addition to 367,180 slices of pickles.

Milwaukee won another 12-straight games in October 2018, which once again meant free hamburgers for loyal fans. George Webb served up 90,000 burgers and handed out 100,000 free burger vouchers.
