Investigation Involving an MPD Squad and Fatal Crash
Today, Saturday, July 27, 2024, at approximately 2:36 a.m., Milwaukee Police officers were responding to a hostage situation when they struck a body that was laying in the roadway in the 1400 block of W. North Avenue.
It was determined that the individual was struck by a black older SUV on N. 14th Street and W. North Avenue that fled the scene prior to the squad striking the body.
The individual, a 57-year-old, died on the scene.
The officers involved in this incident are a 38-year-old male with over 4 years of service and a 25-year-old male with over 6 years of service. The officers will be placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of the investigation.
The Milwaukee Police Homicide Unit will be investigating this incident with assistance of the Wisconsin State Patrol. This is a fluid and ongoing investigation.
Milwaukee Police continue to seek the unknown black older SUV and driver.
