Influential Indigenous Journalist Paul DeMain Endorses Tom Nelson for U.S. Senate

Endorsement adds to growing coalition in support of Nelson

By - Dec 28th, 2021 09:56 am

Appleton, WI – The Nelson for Wisconsin campaign today announced an endorsement from Paul DeMain, a member of the Oneida Nation and CEO of Indian Country Communications. DeMain has also been involved with politics throughout his life, including as Governor Tony Earl’s Policy Advisor on Indian Affairs and running for state Senate. Nelson said, “I am honored to have Paul’s support, and plan to keep fighting to protect Native American lands against oil corporations like Enbridge when I get to the U.S. Senate.”

In his endorsement, DeMain said, “I’m just a northern Wisconsin businessman. Take a look at Tom Nelson. No silver spoon. No slick politics. I like honest. I appreciate trust. I support ‘environmentally clean’ union jobs. I want my great grand children to have a good education – trust in their government, deer meat and community – not reckless politics. I like people who have milked cows, trust their Indigenous neighbors, reject the influence of foreign tar sand oil corporations and know how to grow corn, like me.”
