Milwaukee, WI — Incumbent Democratic State Representative Russell Antonio Goodwin, Sr. is announcing today his candidacy for re-election to the Wisconsin State Assembly, continuing his service to the 12th District.

After careful prayer, conversations with his family, and listening to the community, Rep. Goodwin made the decision to run at a time when critical decisions in Madison are directly impacting local neighborhoods, schools, and working families.

“In times like these, our community doesn’t need empty promises, we need proven leadership that delivers results,” said Rep. Goodwin. “I’m running for re-election to keep fighting for safer neighborhoods, lower property taxes, and real solutions for working families. We must end reckless driving, fix our streets, and protect our neighborhoods.”

During his first term, Rep. Goodwin has delivered measurable results, contributing to over 500 pieces of legislation, passing more than 20 bills into law, and ranking among the top three freshmen legislators in the state for bills passed.

His re-election campaign will focus on:

  • Lowering property taxes and protecting homeowners
  • Fixing the school funding formula to reduce reliance on referendums
  • Improving public safety and addressing reckless driving
  • Driving economic development, including the redevelopment of Northridge Mall

Rep. Goodwin, a former Milwaukee County Supervisor and Chairman of the Transportation, Public Works, and Transit Committee, is widely recognized as a strong negotiator and a consistent voice for his community. He is supported by leaders across business, community organizations, and the faith community.
