In Recognition of a Milwaukee Change Agent
Statement of Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs
The recent articles by the Milwaukee Business Journal highlighting the outstanding work and impact Julia Taylor has had on our community as her time with the Greater Milwaukee Committee winds down have been inspiring. I would be remiss if I did not extend my own words of appreciation for all the work she has done.
In particular, she has been a steadfast advocate for Creative Placemaking within Milwaukee as we strive for inclusive community development in our city. In my district we have seen this effort have a tremendous impact through enhancing the Beerline Trail.
Julia Taylor has also been a longtime advocate for anti-displacement, and the Greater Milwaukee Committee was a collaborative partner in MKE United’s Anti-Displacement Fund which helps address concerns about displacement in the neighborhoods surrounding Milwaukee’s downtown.
These are just a few of the many items that make up Julia Taylor’s legacy, and I am so appreciative of everything she has done for Milwaukee. I know in whatever path she pursues next, Julia will continue to be an advocate for our community, and the Greater Milwaukee Committee will continue its great work in her absence.
Thank you Ms. Taylor for sharing your time and talents to help improve Milwaukee.
