MADISON — With the first Federal Election Commission reports of 2018 continuing to roll in, Illinois billionaire Dick Uihlein has — over the past 15 months — already poured more than $17 million into 10 groups propping up Republican U.S. Senate candidate Kevin Nicholson, according to FEC filings.

In March, Uihlein donated $500,000 to Club for Growth Action Wisconsin, as reported by the Associated Press, and Uihlein has since the start of 2017 donated more than $1.5 to Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund, a group that endorsed Nicholson on Monday.

“Kevin Nicholson is bought and paid for by Illinois billionaire Dick Uihlein; that’s why Nicholson is championing the right-wing, corporate special interest corruption that keeps Washington working for large corporations and the ultra-wealthy,” said Brad Bainum, Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson for the 2018 Senate race.
