Hesselbein & Neubauer Respond to Republican Proposal Making Abortion Less Accessible
MADISON, Wis – Today, the State Assembly will hold a public hearing on
Assembly Bill 975 (AB 975), which would significantly roll back abortion access if approved.
Senate Democratic Leader Dianne Hesselbein (D-Middleton) and Assembly Democratic Leader Greta Neubauer (D-Racine) released the following statement:
“Today marks the 51st Anniversary of the monumental Supreme Court ruling, Roe v. Wade, protecting a person’s constitutional right to choose. Unfortunately, that right was stripped away from millions of people when right-wing extremists on the US Supreme Court overturned Roe in 2022. Now, Wisconsin Republicans are again attempting
to roll back abortion access.
“Time and time again, election after election, Wisconsinites have made it abundantly clear: they do not want politicians involved in their personal health decisions. Any proposal that makes abortion more difficult to access, including the one before us today, is a nonstarter. Legislative Democrats will never stop fighting to make sure Wisconsinites can make their own reproductive healthcare decisions.”
