West Allis, WI (August 14, 2019) – Heritage Senior Living today announced that Tammy Schafer will be joining the company’s executive team as their new vice president of operations. With 23 years of experience in the senior care industry, Schafer will be responsible for oversight of the company’s 16 Wisconsin communities, which include independent, assisted, enhanced assisted and memory care communities.

Schafer, who holds a bachelor’s in gerontology and master’s in business management, has acted in a variety of leadership roles in the senior living sphere, including president and CEO at Saint Simeon’s Episcopal Home, senior vice president of operations at Evergreen Senior Living, and senior executive director at Bradford Village Retirement Community.

“We are delighted to welcome Tammy to our team,” said Milo Pinkerton, president and CEO of Heritage Senior Living. “As a leader in senior living in the state, more than 2,000 seniors reside in our communities and each community requires a distinct set of strategies and oversight. Tammy’s proven leadership abilities and commonsense approach to employee and resident satisfaction are an ideal fit to take Heritage’s communities to the next level.”

As vice president of operations, Schafer will work collaboratively with the communities, corporate office and executive leadership teams to enhance Heritage’s culture, implement improvement strategies and aid in staffing and employee education. Areas of focus will include monitoring and improving resident satisfaction; working with the quality department to improve quality of care; and assisting with employee retention. Schafer will also be involved in projects related to new communities at the growing company.

“Joining a dynamic company like Heritage is an amazing opportunity,” said Schafer. “I admire what the company has done and am excited for its potential in the coming years. My focus will be to ensure all Heritage residents receive the best possible care and that staff members have a supportive and rewarding environment in which to work.”
