Help catch suspect in death of longtime MPD employee
Statement of Alderman Khalif J. Rainey - March 17, 2020
A woman who worked for more than 32 years as an emergency communications operator for the Milwaukee Police Department was killed early Monday when her vehicle was struck by a reckless driver at N. 51st and W. Vienna Streets in the 7th District.
My heart goes out to the family and friends of the victim, who is survived by her husband, two children and two grandchildren. I ask the community to provide comfort and prayers for the family during this difficult time.
The striking vehicle had been pursued briefly by MPD just before the crash, but the driver sped away in a reckless manner. MPD arrested the passenger of the striking vehicle but are still looking for the driver, who fled on foot after the crash.
I am asking the public to please immediately contact MPD at 414-935-7360 or Milwaukee Crime Stoppers (414-224-TIPS) if you have any information about the crash and/or the driver.
With help from the community we can hopefully apprehend the driver and bring some justice to the family of the victim.
