Green Bay Packers Donate New Playground for Center Street Park
The Packers gift, which includes installation costs, was made in conjunction with the National Football League’s "Play60" and "Huddle for 100" initiatives, is valued at between $75,000 and $80,000.
MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously this month to accept an in-kind donation from the Green Bay Packers for new playground equipment at Center Street Park.
The Packers gift, which includes installation costs, was made in conjunction with the National Football League’s “Play60” and “Huddle for 100” initiatives, is valued at between $75,000 and $80,000.
“I would like to thank the Green Bay Packers and the NFL for their generosity in helping upgrade Center Street Park,” said Supervisor Eddie Cullen. “This park is treasured in our community, and because of this donation it will continue to be enjoyed for years to come. I would also like to thank Parks Department staff including Director Guy Smith, Sarah Toomsen, Jeremy Lucas and Brad Drefcinski, and City of Milwaukee Engineer Chad Chrisbaum,” said Cullen.
Milwaukee County Parks, through its Playground Trust, will cover the costs of removing the old equipment, site preparation and rubber surfacing.
On Saturday, October 19 the Friends of Center Street Park will host a grand reopening of the revitalized park, in conjunction with their annual Fall Fest event.
