Governor Walker Welcomes Wisconsin Boy Scouts to the State Capitol to Receive Annual Report

MADISON–Governor Scott Walker met with Eagle Scouts from across the State of Wisconsin today to receive the Boy Scouts Annual Report to the Governor.
“Wisconsin’s Scouts are role models in our communities, serving as an example of hard work and dedication to public service,” said Governor Walker. “As an Eagle Scout myself, I understand the sense of pride and commitment that comes with scouting and the positive impact it can have on the future of our state’s scouts and their families.”
In 2017, the Boy Scouts of Wisconsin completed over 265,458 hours of service within Wisconsin communities, more than 738,930 pounds of food for local food banks through the “Scouting for Food” program, served approximately 67,790 youth with the help of more than 16,772 adult volunteers.
Wisconsin welcomed 881 new Eagle Scouts to its ranks this year, completing more than 139,385 hours of service as a group while completing their Eagle Scout projects.
The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation’s largest and most prominent youth development organizations. Founded in 1910, the Boy Scouts of America boasts over 2.4 million members between the ages of seven and 21 and prides itself on training members to be responsible, self-reliant citizens through outdoor, educational, and service-based activities.
