Governor Walker Appoints New Deputy Chief of Staff for Budget, Legislative, and Intergovernmental Affairs
Governor Walker’s current Deputy Chief of Staff for Budget, Legislative, and Intergovernmental Affairs, Cindy Polzin, will be leaving her role effective November 28, 2016.
Madison – Governor Scott Walker today announced the appointment of Heather Smith as the incoming Deputy Chief of Staff for Budget, Legislative, and Intergovernmental Affairs. Smith’s appointment will be effective November 28, 2016.
“Heather is a highly experienced professional and we are confident she will be an outstanding addition to our office,” Governor Walker said. “Her vast legislative and policy experience will serve invaluable as we move into the next state budget and legislative session.”
Smith joins Governor Walker’s office from her political strategy and consulting firm. Smith previously served as chief of staff to Joint Finance Committee Co-Chair Senator Alberta Darling.
“Cindy has been an exceptional advisor on legislative affairs and the state budget since 2011,” Governor Walker said. “Cindy’s work ethic, combined with her enthusiasm for the job, made her a great asset to my office, and she will be missed.”
Governor Walker’s current Deputy Chief of Staff for Budget, Legislative, and Intergovernmental Affairs, Cindy Polzin, will be leaving her role effective November 28, 2016. Polzin has served in the Governor’s Office since 2011. Prior to her role as the leading advisor on legislative and intergovernmental affairs, Polzin served as a policy analyst and advisor for Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen and Assembly Majority Leader Steve Foti. Polzin, a native of Pound, Wisconsin, received her Master of Arts degree in Public Administration from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh.
