Governor Evers Approves WIS 33 Retaining Wall Replacement Project in Ozaukee County

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers has approved a $1.42 million retaining wall replacement project along WIS 33, adjacent to the Cedarburg Bog State Natural Area in Ozaukee County. Zenith Tech, Inc. is the prime contractor for the project. Work is scheduled to begin the week of March 16.

Improvements include:

  • Clear trees and shrubs
  • Remove existing retaining wall
  • Install new retaining wall consisting of concrete panels and steel posts
  • Reconstruction of existing shoulder on WIS 33
  • Install new curb, gutter inlets, and guardrail

Traffic Impacts:

This project will require a full closure of WIS 33 to remove and replace the retaining wall. A detour will be posted utilizing County Y, WIS 60, and County I.

This project is scheduled for completion by summer 2026. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
