Governor Evers approves WIS 32 (Lake Drive) improvement project in Milwaukee County

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers has approved a $9.88 million pavement replacement project along WIS 32 (Lake Drive), from Edgewood Avenue to Kensington Boulevard in the village of Shorewood, Milwaukee County. Zignego Company, Inc. is the prime contractor for the project. Construction is scheduled to begin February 10.

Improvements include:

  • Replace existing pavement within project limits
  • Install new traffic signals at WIS 32 (Lake Drive) and WIS 190 (Capitol Drive) intersection
  • Curb extensions at multiple intersections for improved pedestrian safety
  • Addition of on-street bike lane
  • Replace water mains and combined sewer lines
  • New sidewalks
  • Improve curb ramps to meet ADA standards.
  • New concrete curb and gutter
  • New pavement markings

Traffic Impacts:

WIS 32 (Lake Drive) will be closed to through traffic.

A single traffic lane will remain open for local access only.

Pedestrian access will be maintained on one side of the street during construction.

WIS 32 motorists are encouraged to use North Avenue, Oakland Avenue, and Hampton Road to get around the closure.

Those looking to access Lincoln Memorial Drive are encouraged to use Kenwood Boulevard, Oakland Avenue, and Hampton Road to get around the closure.

Schedule:

Work is scheduled for completion in late fall 2025. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
