Gov. Evers Orders Flags to Half-Staff in Honor of Former Oneida Nation Chairman Rick Hill
DISON — Gov. Tony Evers today ordered the flags of the United States and the state of Wisconsin to be flown at half-staff on Wed., Dec. 18, and Thurs., Dec. 19, in honor of former Oneida Nation Chairman Rick Hill.
Chairman Hill was instrumental in developing and implementing national regulatory standards and policies for tribal government gaming, and under his leadership, the Oneida Nation signed its first gaming compact with the state of Wisconsin.
“Chairman Hill leaves behind a legacy of service not only to the Oneida Tribe and Wisconsin’s Native Nations, but to our entire state,” said Gov. Evers. “On behalf of the state of Wisconsin, I want to extend my condolences to his family, friends, and the Oneida Nation on his sudden passing.”
