Gov. Evers Appoints Craig Reukauf as Grant County Sheriff
MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers today appointed Craig Reukauf as Grant County Sheriff. The appointment fills a vacancy created by Sheriff Nate Dreckman’s resignation. Reukauf will complete the remainder of the unexpired term that ends January 2027.
Reukauf is currently the jail administrator for the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. Previously, he served as a jailer, deputy sheriff, detective, patrol sergeant, and detective sergeant for the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, dedicating his entire law enforcement career to Grant County.
“Captain Craig Reukauf has worked at the Grant County Sheriff’s Office for the past 26 years; during that time, I have witnessed him develop into a competent, professional leader,” said former Grant County Sheriff Nate Dreckman. “I have the utmost confidence that Captain Reukauf will lead the Grant County Sheriff’s Office as the next sheriff with honesty, integrity, and a strong drive to serve all of the citizens in Grant County.”
Reukauf currently resides in Lancaster with his family. He earned an associate degree in police science technology from Western Technical College in La Crosse and is a graduate of the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Command College.
“I would first like to thank Gov. Evers for giving me this opportunity,” said Reukauf. “I am both humbled and honored to accept his appointment to replace Sheriff Dreckman, who has transitioned into a new role within Grant County. I would also like to thank Sheriff Dreckman for all his support over my 26-year career with Grant County. His leadership and guidance have played an important role in who I am today as a law enforcement officer. Sheriff Dreckman deserves a great deal of credit for everything he has done to improve the culture and the department’s relationship with the citizens of Grant County. I look forward to working with our incredible staff to continue to provide a high level of service to the citizens of Grant County.”
